Look of the Month – Green Eye Makeup

That the must-try eye makeup shade of 2019 is green might come as a surprise to most, but trust us, we’re not going for a Wicked Witch of the West look here! Instead, we’ve seen green eye makeup in all shades showing up on the runways and red carpet in the form of fierce eyeshadow looks, that are easier to achieve than you might think!

Taking the plunge with this eye-catching colour will earn you mega style-cred points and is a really fun way to shake up your makeup look or an otherwise low key outfit, but there are a few rules to follow to ensure you don’t end up looking like Princess Fiona!

  • Watch where you wear it! Green eyeliner can be a great way to road test this vibrant look – simply use it as you would a black or brown liner, and see how you like the results! For those looking to take things to the next level bear in mind that when working with a metallic, shimmery or glittery shadow it’s often best to apply to just the lid, but if matte shades are more your thing then feel free to go for a classic smoky eye and work the shade into your lower lash line, too.

  • Choose the right shade for your colouring! Define light-coloured eyes with dark green shades that will really make your eyes pop, and try lighter shades of green for eyes that are darker in colour which will bring out the warmth of the eyes. A gold-based green eyeshadow should be universally flattering on all eye colours, while emerald greens tend to complement all skin tones, whether light or dark.

  • Keep the rest of your makeup look low-key. The key to pulling off this look without looking cartoonish is keeping the rest of your makeup pared back. We suggest pairing your green eye makeup with a nude lip, a sweep of blush or bronzer, lashings of mascara and not much else!

Below, we run you through a full face look that’s sure to turn people green with envy!

Base

Squeeze a pea size of CC Perfecting Primer onto your fingers and smooth over face. Apply Youngblood Liquid Mineral Foundation with the Liquid Foundation Brush for a medium-full coverage. Gently pat the Ultimate Concealer onto dark circles and any imperfections using the Luxurious Concealer Brush Set your base with Hi-Def Mineral Perfecting Powder

Eyes

Using the On-Point Brow Defining Pencil, fill in your brows. Prime eyelids with the Stay Put Eye Prime, using your ring finger to blend out from lash line to brow bone. Using the Crease Smudge Brush, apply the ‘Jewel Satin’ Pressed Eyeshadow. Apply the ‘Platinum’ shade all over your eyelid and lightly blend. Using a heavier hand, apply and blend the ‘Zen’ shade towards the outer corner of the eyelid, taking it over the crease to just below the brow bone. Finish off the eyes with winged eyeliner using the Eye-Mazing Liquid Liner Pen and a coat of the Outrageous Lashes Mineral Lengthening Mascara in 'Blackout', separating lashes by using a zig-zagging motion eye.

Cheeks

Lightly swipe Mineral Radiance in 'Sundance' across the jawline using the Contour Blush Brush then apply the Pressed Mineral Blush in 'Blossom' gently to the apples of the cheeks using the Luxurious Blush Brush.

Lips

Line lips with the Lip Liner Pencil in 'Malt' and blend towards the inner corners of the lips. Fill out and swipe the Color Crays Matte Lip Crayon in 'Hollywood Lights' for a creamy matte finish.
